Word Whiz solves Scrabble, Crossword Puzzles

Word Whiz iPhone App icon.

With Scrabble, you enter the letters in your hand, and the letters you can use on the board and Word Whiz will show you the top scoring words made up of these letters. With Crossword Puzzles, you enter the letters you have already filled in for the puzzle and it will show you all the words which will fill in the blanks.

How to use Scrabble Whiz

Scrabble Whiz usage reference.
  1. When you have finished entering all the letters in your hand and the letters on the board, select the "Find Words" button to display the words which can be made out of these letters.
  2. Tap inside the "In Hand" text field to enter letters that are you hold in you hand.
  3. To remove all letters from all text fields click the "Clear" button.
  4. To remove all letters from one text field click the circled X in the same text field.
  5. Tap inside the "On Board" text field to enter letters that are on the board that you want to be part of the generated words.
  6. Click the information button to change which dictionary is being used. TWL06 is more strict than SOWPODS.
  7. Get to Scrabble Whiz by hitting this tab button at the bottom of the iPhone screen.
Scrabble Reult usage reference.
  1. To get back to entering letters press the Scrabble Whiz navigation button.
  2. To sort in Alphabetical Order, press this button.
  3. To sort by Letter Position, press this button.
  4. To sort by Word Length, press this button.
  5. To sort by Scrabble Value, press this button.
  6. Scroll through all the matching words by dragging your finger up or down on the list of generated words.
  7. To jump to diffirent sections of the list, tap the corresponding value in the index.
  8. To get back to entering letters press the Scrabble Whiz tab button.

How to use Crossword Whiz

Crossword Whiz usage reference.
  1. To view the words that match the letters you entered, press the Find Words button.
  2. The clear button removes all letters from the textfields.
  3. Enter the letters you know into the corresponding textfield.
    • Enter letters by taping on a text field to make it active and then typing the letter using the keyboard. The cursor automatically moves to the following textfield.
    • To delete letters and move the currsor forward one textfield, press the space bar on the keyboard.
    • To delete letters and move the cursor back one textfield, press the delete key on the keyboard.
  4. To change the length of the word you are entering slide this slider to the appropriate value. That number of textfields will then be visible.
  5. Press the Crossword Whiz tab button to get to this screen
Crossword result usage reference.
  1. Get back to entering letters into the textfields by pressing the Crossword Whiz navagation button.
  2. Scroll through all the generated words by sliding your finger up and down on the word list.
  3. To jump to a specific set of words, tap or drag on this index.
  4. Press the Crossword Whiz tab button to get back to entering letters.

    • No new features are planned for Word Whiz. Let me know your feature wish list and maybe I'll get to implement them.
  • When will the next version be available?
    • There are no plans for another version of Word Whiz. If enough units are sold or the suggested features are interesting enough, this could change.
